The Bruins’s effort to come back from down five runs in the fourth inning came up just short, as they fell 8-7 to the Pioneers on Thursday. The Bruins scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a error in the fifth, a home run by Nathan Bingham in the fifth, a groundout by Erik Bawden in the sixth, a double by Duke Kirby in the seventh, and a single by Easton Cox in the seventh.
The Bruins fell behind early in the loss. The Pioneers scored on a single by H Jacoson and a single by Tyson Eagar in the second inning.
the Pioneers got things started in the second inning when Will Miner was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Casey Anderson was credited with the victory for the Pioneers. He allowed six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out five. Gentry Cox and #38 entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Cox recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Pioneers.
Bingham took the loss for the Bruins. He lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out eight.
The Bruins collected nine hits on the day. Riley Sinema, Kirby, and TJ Crossett each collected multiple hits for the Bruins. Crossett, Kirby, and Sinema each collected two hits to lead the Bruins.
Jacoson led the Pioneers with three hits in four at bats.
