The Bruins fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 9-5 loss to the Wasps on Saturday. The Wasps took the lead on a single in the first inning.
In the first inning, the Wasps got their offense started when Kaden Baxter singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
The Bruins tallied three runs in the sixth inning. Duke Kirby and Drew Lancaster all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
The Wasps scored five runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower by the Wasps was led by Jake Post, Trent Sweat, Baxter, and Parker Quinton, who all drove in runs.
Zac Webster was the winning pitcher for the Wasps. He allowed four hits and three runs over six innings, striking out six. Baxter threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Baxter recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Wasps.
TJ Crossett took the loss for the Bruins. He lasted two innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out one and walking zero.
The Bruins saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Preston Bridges, Kirby, and Riley Sinema all collected multiple hits for the Bruins. Sinema, Kirby, and Bridges each managed two hits to lead the Bruins.
the Wasps had nine hits in the game. Jake Allen and Baxter each had multiple hits for the Wasps.
