The Bruins nabbed the lead late in the game in a 6-5 victory over the Lions on Monday. The game was tied at five with the Bruins batting in the top of the seventh when TJ Crossett hit a solo homer.
The Bruins earned the victory despite allowing the Lions to score three runs in the fourth inning. the Lions’s big inning was driven by a walk by Wyatt Monroe and by Garret Benson.
In the first inning, the Lions got their offense started. Benson’s sac fly scored one run for the Lions.
The Bruins evened things up at five in the top of the fifth inning when Monroe threw a wild pitch allowing three runs across the plate for the Bruins.
The Bruins tallied three runs in the fifth inning. Duke Kirby had an RBI home run in the inning to lead the run scoring.
Crossett earned the win for the Bruins. He allowed two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking one.
Monroe took the loss for the Lions. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out ten.
Brody Job started the game for the Bruins. He allowed five hits and five runs over three innings, striking out one.
The Bruins socked two home runs on the day. Crossett went for the long ball in the seventh inning. Kirby had a homer in the fifth inning.
The Bruins totaled nine hits in the game. Erik Bawden, Crossett, and Kirby all managed multiple hits for the Bruins. Kirby, Crossett, and Bawden each collected two hits to lead the Bruins.
Tayce Sanderson led the Lions with two hits in four at bats.
