OREM, Utah — Led by a career-high 23 points from David Hair, Mountain View rallied for a 62-61 victory over Lehi on Tuesday night. The Pioneers came into Tuesday night’s game ranked second in 5A. The Bruins (currently ranked 3rd in UHSAA RPI) earn their first win in region play after dropping both home contests last week in overtime to #6 Timpanogos and #1 Timpview.
The Bruins’ leading scorer, Preston Thompson, who had been averaging 18.4 ppg through the first ten games this season, was out on Tuesday night against Lehi with an injury sustained in Friday night’s game against Timpview. Senior David Hair had a career day for Mountian View (8-4), scoring 23 points in Thompson’s absence. Senior Eli Stafford contributed 13 points, including two free throws down the stretch that gave the Bruins a 60-59 lead late in the game.
Seniors Court Walker and Calvin Gustafson each added ten points in the win. Junior Carter Walker chipped in six points on the night, and knocked in a pair of free throws with just 17 seconds remaining, giving Mountain View a 62-59 lead and securing the victory.
