OREM, Utah — Both of Mountain View’s Varsity basketball teams were victorious on Tuesday, Dec. 8th, at Mountain View High School.

Girls hoops takes down Brighton, 52-41

Senior Marinn Waite led Mountain View (1-1) in scoring with 15 points, and added 4 offensive rebounds. Junior Bella Brooks recorded 8 points, including two 3-point field goals. Sophomore Lili Suguturaga chipped in 7 points, and Senior Joise Jorgensen contributed 8 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

The Lady Bruins improve to 1-1 on the season and will face 6A Cyprus (1-1) at Mountain View on Dec. 10th at 7 p.m. MST. The game will be livestreamed on NFHS Network (subscription).

Big first quarter propels Boys past Spanish Fork, 71-57

A huge 32-point first quarter against Spanish Fork on Tuesday night helped Mountain View (3-0) stay unbeaten on the season.

Senior Preston Thompson led all scorers with 22 points, his season-high. Senior Court Walker also scored in double figures for the Bruins, pouring in 13 points, including two 3-point field goals. Sophomore Mason Faux scored a game-high three 3-point field goals. Faux leads Mountain View from beyond the arc this season with six triples. Senior Calvin Gustafson put up double figures for the third game in a row with 10 points.

The Bruins put their perfect record on the line as they go on the road for the first time this season to face Cyprus (1-0) at 7 p.m. on Dec 11th.
