OREM, Utah – No. 2 seed Mountain View swept No. 18 Timpanogos (25-13, 25-15, 25-19) in the second round of the UHSAA 5A volleyball playoffs on Wednesday.
Sophomore Mia Lee led the way offensively for the Bruins, recording 11 kills with a .733 hitting percentage and three blocks. Senior Aaliyah Lobendahn also added six kills on .333 hitting and two blocks. Senior Dres Collings led Mountain View with six aces.

Mountain View jumped out to a 4-0 lead to begin the first set. A Sydney White ace and a Mia Lee kill gave Mountain View a 25-13 win in the first set.
After Timpanogos scored the first point of set two, Mountain View ripped off eight straight points on their way to an 8-1 lead. The Bruins rolled to a 25-15 victory after an ace by Dres Collings ended the set.
In what was by far the most competitive set, Timpanogos hung around until Mountain View pulled away late for a 25-19 win, as the Bruins won the match.
With the win, the Bruins advance to the quarterfinals of the UHSAA 5A tournament tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 5, as they will host No. 7 Skyline at 6 p.m. MST. Tickets must be reserved prior to the game at mountainviewbruins.org. The game will be livestreamed on KSL.com. The winner of tomorrow’s match will advance to the semifinals at Corner Canyon High School on Friday, Nov. 6.
