Mountain View High School’s wrestling team has won three region championships in five years. However, the goal of education-based athletics and Mountain View High School is much bigger and broader than that. At Mountain View, coaches work to increase student athletic participation, help students achieve academically, teach students good character, and then provide student athletes with the tools to be competitive athletically. The first three areas are not always very visible to people outside of the athletic programs.
Athletic Director Jordan Blanchard said, “I am really happy about the growth Coach (Ross) Taylor has had over the last few years. He cares deeply about each of his athletes in the classroom and in life. I think that focus on what is really is important has lead to athletic success also.” The wrestling team has won region championships in 2015-16, 2017-18, and this past season 2019-20.
The public is invited to come see the region championship trophies located in the East trophy case. That trophy case showcases all successes from athletics over the last five years. The West trophy case holds Mountain View’s 88 State championships, and multiple national championship trophies.
